BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun turning to personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these missions have become.

Understanding BF6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns found within the game.

Some of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

On Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns

This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option at a push if you want to snipe from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when tackling the tasks in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so allies are not impaired?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
